?: Is it ever explained why Julian went into Yang's "care?" I saw the ep in
series 2 where they go to his parents'(?) house and they never did out and
out say why they gave up guardianship Julian...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
Julian's parents were dead when he was sent to live with Yang Wen Li.  I
don't recall exactly where this was mentioned, unfortunately.
I think the tradition of sending a war orphen to live with a military man
goes back to Greek times, when young boys were expected to have an older,
male guardian who'd take the young boy and show him the ways of the world.
In Yang's case, Julian was shown the way of war, mass destruction, &
killing; being influenced to join the military over Yang's objections.
Unlike naive fools who view the military through spiffy uniforms and shiny
medals, Julian knew that war was about killing some mother's son with each
pull of the trigger, and had no qualms in doing so.
Yang would probably have said, in most civilized worlds, people who murder
others are put in jails.  Only in the military, they reward homocidal
killers with bright, shiny medals, advancement in rank, and higher pay.
