Well, since it was my message originally that this thread was derived
from, here goes:

I'm Hank, and I am the administrator of this mailing list. I also do
some editing work for Lee on the Info Center, and am the person who
created the FPA and Imperial ranks tables that appear on the Info Center.

How did I get into LoGH? When I was in my last semester in college, I
finally got interested enough in anime to join my school's anime club
(Cal Animage Alpha, at the University of California at Berkeley). At one
of the showings, the featured show was LoGH. They showed the first
four episodes, and being a bit of a history and military buff to begin
with, I liked it a lot. Surprisingly (in retrospect), the audience
really liked it as well, so the club held a small LoGH marathon a few
weeks later where they showed episodes 5-12. I went to that special
showing, and from then on I was a dedicated fan of the series. When I
began acquiring anime tapes a couple of months later, one of the first
things I got was the rest of season 1.

A little more than a year later, I was conversing with Walter Amos via
email and we got to wondering, hmm, wouldn't it be great if there was a
mailing list dedicated to Legend of the Galactic Heroes? The mailing list
was offically founded on February 14, 1996, with myself, Walter, and Ming
Hung as the first three members. Today, a little more than 4 years later,
we have 184 members from all parts of the world.

I have a fairly diverse taste in anime. Some of my favorite animes:
Arcadia of My Youth (the Captain Harlock movie), basically anything else
by Leiji Matsumoto (The Cockpit, Queen Millennia, Space Cruiser Yamato),
Maison Ikkoku, Rose of Versailles, Gekiganger III, and Video Girl Ai. Yes,
I prefer older animes.

When I'm not busy deleting bounced messages and spam meant for the ML,
I can be found on IRC (EFNet #logh and a few other channels), trying to
get more people to watch LoGH =) Come by and say hi sometime.

Shameless self-plug, I also play in an anime/j-pop band, 5XL, that has
played concerts at Anime Expo and just recently, Fanime Con (the local
San Francisco-area anime convention). http://listen.to/5xl
