I know some people that attended didn't wear their uniforms as well. We have to coordinate getting a group shot taken at a future convention, with people dressup in different characters like the group shot that was posted about six months ago(Minus the platform shoes).:-) Thanks. Yes, being able to take a picture along Vandyke Lee in his Yang costume was definitely one of the coolest moments of the convention. Also, I think more people saluted me on my way to the panel than tried to take my picture...don't get that happening often in costuming ^o^ A bit more about the costume...basically, the coat was an old coat that I got altered by a tailor so that it would resemble an Imperial uniform. I made the shoulder insignias and did some of the uniform trim before the convention. I wasn't able to finish in time, so I took all the extra materials with me to the convention. On Friday night, after about 14 hours of karaoke contest staffing, I finally got a chance to sit down in my hotel room...worked on the costume until the sun was about to rise, then slept for a few hours. After I woke up, made the cape and attached everything, and then went straight to the panel. When I have more time, I'll try and do a much more detailed write-up with a list of materials, source info used, and a rough procedure. Also, next year I'll try and officially finish the costume, with the belt, and some more trim on the sleeves and collar. Speaking of costumes, there was an inordinately large number of costumers at this year's convention. I counted at least eight Utenas (not surprising, considering that the creators of Utena were guests at the convention), four Rinoas, and about seven or so Card Captor Sakuras (the series just started on TV here in the States). Not to mention the usual number of Sailor Moons. > After that, the premier of the new OVA was shown. I believe "Evil" Taka was the one who subtitled this, but if I'm wrong, please tell me who did it. The animation was very good in this episode. It didn't have to many action sequences in it, but the story was quite good, covering the early years of Yang. Yes, Taka was the one who translated and subbed the OVA. Just one minor thing to add- the OVA was the first in the Spiral Labyrinth series, and basically back story of how Yang joined the military, and then how he became the "Hero of El Facile." After the panel was over, Walter, myself, and Ted Ekering got together and had a mini-LoGH lunch. Wasn't a big turnout, but we had a great time talking about random stuff, and heard a lot of interesting stuff from Ted about the anime scene in Japan. > I just like to say that Sakura Con will have an LOGH panel, if someone can bring the video(nudge, nudge, wink wink). I look forward to being at Sakura Con again. Hopefully next year, the panel can show something even newer. Or mabye if more episodes are subbed by then, perhaps there could be a LoGH marathon in one of the video rooms. I'm also considering the idea of hosting an LoGH panel at Fanime Con next year, if the time slots can be arranged.
