It has taken me about 6 months to finally get this thing scanned and
put up, but I finally did it...

Back in July at Anime Expo 2000, they had the annual "Legend of the
Galactic Heroes" panel with LoGH anime producer Yukio Kikukawa and
director Noburo Ishiguro (also director on Space Battleship Yamato,
Macross, and a number of other great and classic anime series).

During the Q&A session, Mr. Kikukawa did most of the talking while Mr.
Ishiguro seemed to be preoccupied with something he was writing on the
table up on the dais. After the panel, Mr. Kikukawa requested that
everyone in the room gather at the front so they could take a big group
picture with all these crazy Americans interested in LoGH for their
internal company newsletter (a shot of this can be seen on the "Fan's View"
page coverage of the panel at http://www.fansview.com/2000e/070100d.htm )

As we gathered for the picture, Mr. Ishiguro came up behind me and
handed me a small piece of paper, what had apparently been occupying
him during the panel. He had drawn a small sketch of me! I don't know
whether this was as a small thank-you for the print of the photograph
of myself in LoGH admiral costume with himself and Kikukawa from the
previous AX that I had given him earlier, or since he remembered me
from inviting him to be on our small Star Blazers panel that year as
well. But in any case, it was hellaciously cool having a sketch of
oneself drawn by the director of so many of one's favorite anime
series. Adding this to the caricature of myself that appeared in
Animage after AX99 drawn by Sachiko Kamimura, I now have succeeded in
getting drawings of me done by AX guests two years running!

I today finally got around to scanning and posting this pic on my mini
web page (mainly since my work recently set up an unused office around
the corner with a PC and scanner). To see the small version, it is now
the banner pic at the top of my page at:

http://www.headgear.org/~amos/

(the grayscale came out darker than it looked on the PC, I may futz
with the image in Photoshop later tonight at home).

Anyway, I've been looking forward to sharing this little treasure with
folks on the list for months, waiting until I could get it scanned to
mention it here.
