At Anime Expo 2001 LoGH Panel with Yukio Kikukawa and Noburu Ishiguro,
answers for jc's questions was answered.
1. After all the talk about international desires for the series. Why aren't
there english subs planned for the DVDs?
English subbing cannot be done due to cost. About 46 DVDs will be formatted
according to chronological order. Estimated to cost about 321,000 yens or
3,000 dollars total. If the DVD sell well the english subbing for DVD will be
considered.
2. Will the DVDs will be sold through retail channels after the box set comes
out?
Yes. But fansubbers beware. The DVDs will be encoded according to region so
it cannot be shown outside the Japan.
3. Will the 35mm print be hitting anywhere on the east coast other than
worldcon?
It will appear at Philcon, convention of science fiction. Mission is to
attract enough scinece fiction lovers to demand for American release.
