Please forgive this; I had surgery on Monday, and may be loopy from pain
meds, but as a fan of Full Thrust gaming, I often play with PSB
(psuedo-science bulls**t)

It is possible to form neutrons from protons and electrons, right? Couldn't
you accelerate converging beams of protons and electrons? Cooking them back
to neutrons at near relativistic speeds is where you need the magic box,
though. ;->=

On the other hand, if I were chatting this on the Full Thrust list, I'd be
complaining that the thread was getting a wee off topic.
