Thanks much for the info on Oberstein. As expected, Tanaka *did* use him
rather differently than I would have liked but it's his story after all. I
admit, much of my fondness for the character has to do with feeling that he
*could* have been much more had things been different. Too, I have a
preference for characters who use their heads instead of (or as well as)
their fists. (That and I really like Shiozawa - the voice actor who plays him).

In any case, thanks again. er.. what do I call you? Your e-mail address
didn't include a comprehensible name (as mine evidently does).

One thought has occurred to me on occasion - there is a strong similarity
(imho) between Oberstein and Narsas (of Arslan). Since Tanaka wrote both,
I'm wondering if the resemblance (high intelligence, dispassionate
personality, tendency to speak ones mind) might have been less than
co-incidental? Just a thought.

POSSIBLE SPOILER:
The bombing I referred to was the one that put Oberstein and Lutz in the
hospital, not the one that kills him. Any explanation why everyone seemed so
upset with him at the time or was it just the usual "let's dump on
Oberstein" bit?
