Hi -

I think Reuental didn't bother trying to reconcile because there was
the feeling on both sides that it was "too late." After being attacked
on Urvasi, Reinhart wandered around in hyperspace for quite a while before
being rescued. During that whole time, Reuental investigated the Urvasi
incident, and concluded that the Ert==arth Church was to blame, but he did
not send the results to Reinhart/HQ, because he did not trust them
to arrive safely - He thought Lang./Oberstein would intercept them.

Instead of proceeding at once to Phezzan, Reuental remained on former FPA
territory, during the investigation. Reinhart became convinced by this
that Reuental had to be guilty. With Reinhart thus convinced, it would be
hard for Reuental to change his stubborn mind. Also, Reneutal was not
convinced that he could make it safely to the Emperor's presence if
Oberstein decided to prevent him from doing so. (Showing up surrounded
by a huge guard fleet is NOT an option in these cuircumstances!)

If I can remember the quote by Reuental accurtely, it should provide
some insight into his state of mind:

"I'm not a traitor; but I'd rather *be* a traitor, than be turned into one
by somebody else." (or words to that effect)
