Actually that's a good question - there seems to be a lack of what we consider standard military decorations - oddly moreso in the Empire than the Alliance. The only "decorations" I've seen in the Empire might be the sort of Imperial Eagle medallions a few of the highest ranking admirals have, like Reinhard and Muckenberger. I thought it was interesting that Muckenberger had has dangling from a ribbon more like what we think of as a "medal", while Reinhard's appeared to be pinned on and was dangling a white tassel (I used this design for my LGH costume, BTW, simply because it was easier to make). The only other Imperial decorations are standard badges of rank (amount of collar piping, epaulets and cape, sash, etc.) One thing I've wondered about the Empire, we see the triumvirate members and Reinhard have different colored sashes and cape linings in their full dress duds. I wonder if there is special meaning to the colors, or if it is a case like some 18th century armies where there was a certain amount of freedom in choice of decor for high officers. The Alliance seems to have a wider array of pins, more similar to the type of small rectangular ribbons we commonly see in dress uniforms in the US military. The Alliance badges seem to be combinations of lapel pins, various colored rectangular and irregulary shaped chest badges, and the length of the dangly cloth in attached to that circular pin thingy. :) See Ming's LGH page for a few comments on rank - somewhere in an APA I have a copy of a page from an anime magazine a friend xeroxed with some specific Alliance rankings - need to find it and scan it sometime... ============================================================================== "Zu jeder Zeit, an jeder (sic) Ort, bleibt das Tun | Walter Amos der Menschen das gleiche..." - Galactic Heroes II | amos@sedl.org
