I finally had a chance to go and look at these. Nice pix, but I don't
think the appellation "New War" is correct. I believe "Overture to a
New War" specifically refers to the second cinema movie from 91 or so.
(The one where the second half of the movie retells the battle of
Astarte). Fortunately having seen the newest side-story OVA at the
Anime Expo LGH panel with the producer, Yukio Kikukawa, I recognize
some of the characters in your pix as being from the side stories.
Specifically, there is an withered old man in some of the pix sitting
down holding a cane. This is old Count Grimshausen, who featured in
the side story OVA we say "A Billion Stars, A Billion Lights". If you
refer to my post of 6 months ago about the panel, he was Reinhard's
commanding officer in some of Reinhard's first fleet postings, and is a
senile incompetent commander who is kept around because he knows the
dirty secrets of everyone in the Empire. He grows to like Reinhard and
eventually gives him that info, aiding Reinhard's rise to power.
So I would conclude that your pix are not from "New War" but rather
from the new side-story OVAs of which "Billion Stars" is one.
