I bet they're trying to market it themselves to television. I don't
think they're going to find the kind of fandom necessary to make the
series a sucess on video. Not unless there's an agressive marketing
campaign aimed at people outside anime fandom.
So, do you guys think that the Empire will speak English with a German
accent? Will Rubinsky speak with a Russian accent? How about Yang?
Will he have a Chinese accent? Or will most of the FPA speak with
standard American accents?
Also, I wonder if they will keep the names of the characters on the
screen for the English version, or if they'd remove the names since
there's Japanese text as well as English.
I really hope this isn't another Samurai X though - I wonder, if Tokuma
did the translation and dubbing themselves, if they really know what
they were looking for in English voice actors - you know, it's sometimes
difficult to tell what sounds natural in another language. Hopefully
they had native English-speaking consultants who cared enough to put in
the effort to find appropriate voices.
