Hi all! I just got back online after a week in CA. I had loads of fun
at AX. I'm still catching up on e-mail, but I wanted to add my comments
to a couple of things.

1. Mahou Shoujo - As a fan of both LoGH and mahou shoujo series, I have
to say that it's not very fair of most of you to dismiss an entire
gendre just because of preconception and sporadic viewing. Some of you
would complain about a Dragon Ball or Sailor Moon fanboy saying that
LoGH is boring after watching only one or two episodes, but aren't you
being hypocritical by making the same kind of snap judgements? I'm a
fan of many things, including LoGH, Dragon Ball, Card Captor Sakura, and
I'm even currently watching a soccer anime called Aoki Densetsu Shoot!,
and to be honest, there are only a very few anime that I've actually
watched (as in more than half the series, not one or two episodes) and
not come away enjoying the series. After missing out on several series
for many years because of my own underinformed preconceptions, I feel
that I really lost a lot. There's a lot to be said for many of the
"cutsey" series, which often have much more serious and emotional depth
below the "cutsey" exterior. The problem with these series is that to
get to the soul, you usually have to brave the fluffy exterior, and I
dare say that some of you guys just can't handle it. :-P Also, just
FYI, neither Kimagure Orange Road nor Maison Ikkoku are shoujo series.

2. The dub - Overall I'd say it was very well done. I agree with most
of what's been said already, but I'm of the opinion that Poplan's voice
didn't suit the show. Even if it did suit him, it doesn't make sense to
me for him to have a Brooklyn accent. He's not from Brooklyn. Why
would anyone living in deep space that far into the future have that
kind of accent? I could see the nobles having some kind of accent,
though not necessarily British, but none of the other FPA characters had
distinguishable accents, so it made him seem out of place.

3. Mr Kikukawa and Mr. Ishiguro were wonderful guests, and Mr. Kikukawa
seemed more alert this year. ^_^ They both have a good sense of humor.
My sister agreed that the LoGH panel was probably the best of all the
activites we went to, and she's not even a hard-core LoGH fan.

Anyway, it was nice meeting some of you guys at the con, and I hope
there are more LoGH-related activities in our future.
