In a dim basement room beneath a flower shop on Phezzan, four handsome young men sat around a large video screen and watched a transmission from a man who hid himself in shadows. "Gentlemen of Weiß, I announce a new mission. The target is this man, Adrian Rubinsky," said the man's voice as an image of the bald-headed landesherr of Phezzan appeared on the screen. "He has been constantly manipulating the war between the Free Planets Alliance and the Empire all for his own purposes. As both direct and indirect consequences of his actions, this man has the blood of millions of citizens of both the Empire and Alliance on his hands. White hunters of darkness, hunt the future of this black beast!" The video screen went black and the four guys looked at each other. "This mission is very important," came a voice from the back of the room. The four turned to see Dominic San Piel, an attractive woman with long red hair and a seductive voice, sipping a glass of champagne. "It could determine the future of the human race." Elsewhere on Phezzan, Rupert Kesselink, Rubinsky's aide, closed his notebook computer. "At last, I'll have my revenge!! MUWA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!!!!" Maniacal laughter reverberated loudly as he savored the thought of waving to Rubinsky's decapitated head. Just then there was a pounding knock at the door as irate voices shouted obsenities. "HEY!! You almost done in there!?! We've got a line of people out here!!" "Yeah, what the hell are you doing in there!?! You've been in there for half an hour already!!" "All right, all right! Keep your pants on!!" Kesselink yelled back as he fumbled in the darkness. "Shit! There's no paper!" he cursed out loud as the knocking and yelling outside intensified. ---------- Listen to My Song! (Chapter 3a, A sequel to Legend of Galactic Pokemon and Flight of the Valkyries, all of which will eventually be available on my webpage. If you need previous chapters, ask and I'll send them to you) By Jennifer Califf "BASARA!!" yelled an agitated young female voice. Nekki Basara sat in the hanger next to his valkyrie. He either didn't hear or ignored the girl, while continuing to strum his guitar and sing to himself. The cute, teenage girl with bright pink hair stood in front of him with her hands on her hips. She tapped her foot impatiently, but Basara continued to ignore her. In a final act of desperation, she grabbed the neck of his guitar. THAT got his attention. "Hey Mylene! What are you doing!" he asked angrily, jerking the instrument away from her. "Basara, you're late!" the girl, Mylene, shot back. "Why didn't you come to practice?" "I don't need to practice," he returned and plucked a few notes on his guitar. "Dr. Chiba wanted us to try out his new sound boosters. Besides," Mylene continued, "how are we supposed to sing as a group unless we practice as a group? We're not just Fire Bomber now, we're Sound Force! We have a responsibility to the fleet and to the Alliance!" "No, our responsibility is to sing with our hearts! You'll never understand." Basara looked away from Mylene and began strumming his guitar again. "Basara! You. . . ARRGGH!" Mylene stomped her feet as it became apparent that Basara wasn't going to continue the conversation. Giving up, Mylene headed toward the dining hall. The first thing Mylene noticed upon entering the dining hall was that several young pilots were gathered around a console. She instantly recognized the music being emitted and rushed over to get a better look. "I'm telling you man, they've got to be gay," insisted one pilot, the orange haired Oliver Poplan, an infamous ladies' man. "Not necessarily," countered his good friend Ivan Konev, a young pilot with blonde hair and a generally quiet demeanor. "Isn't that Weiß Kreuz, the famous idol group?" Mylene asked, straining to see over the taller pilots who hadn't noticed that she'd joined them. "Oh, Mylene! I didn't know you were there," Poplan said surprisedly, moving so she could view the screen. On it, four handsome young men were performing a concert that was being transmitted from somewhere on Phezzan. Mylene squealed. "Eeeek! They're SO cute! Omi, Aya, Yoji, Ken. How can I choose!! I want them all!" Mylene almost hugged the video screen, "I wish we'd enlisted them for Sound Force!" "Oh, for Pete's sake," Poplan sighed. "Mylene, you don't even know anything about them," Konev said, smiling. "For all we know, they could be secret assasins who distribute vigilante justice under the guise of working at a flower shop." "Konev, I think you need to lay off the mystery novels for a while and go back to doing crossword puzzles," Poplan laughed. Mylene and the other pilots joined the laughter, but their amusement was short-lived as emergency alarms began to sound. "The enemy fleet has returned!" someone shouted, and everyone rushed to get to their stations, anxiously awaiting the coming battle. Yang Wenli, the leader of the Alliance fleet that had so recently won a deciding battle against the Empire, sat on a table and absentmindedly twirled his beret on his finger. His adjutant, Fredericka Greenhill, stood to his side holding her clipboard. She waited, unwilling to interrupt his thoughts. Finally he grabbed his hat in his hand and looked at her. "It's strange," he said, thinking aloud, "why would they come back so soon?" "Could it be that they've found a way to insulate themselves from Sound Force?" she asked. "I can't imagine that they've had time to develop that kind of technology already. They'd have to restructure their entire communications system on every ship in their fleet. No, they must have some other plan," Yang reasoned, "and that man, Reinhart von Lohengram, wouldn't engage in a battle without a very good plan." "So what will we do?" asked Fredericka. "We'll continue with our own plans until we find out what he's planning, and then I'll plan a way to counter whatever plans he's planning to use. At least, that's my plan for now," Yang said, grinning a little. "So in other words . . ." Fredericka started. "I have no idea," finished Yang. "That doesn't exactly inspire hope," she replied. To be concluded! Author's note: Okay, I know Weiß don't actually sing in the context of the anime series, but I thought it would make a nice touch. And since this is my fanfic, I decided that they get to sing. So there. :-P Chapter 3 is turning out a little longer than I expected, so I decided to go ahead and post part a. Part b probably wont be finished until tomorrow or Friday. Bomber!
