Hi all! I finally got around to scanning that illustration of Walter from
Animage. It's at http://www.topher.net/~jcaliff/walter.jpg. Sorry it took
so long, I couldn't remember where I put the magazine for a while there.

^^;; I scanned the entire blurb and the one below at a high enough
resolution that if you can read Japanese you should be able to read the
article. If anyone would be willing to give the jist of the article, I'm
sure it would be appreciated! I can only pick out words and phrases myself,
which doesn't help much in this case.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
Top blurb:  "There were many Japanese guests at Anime Expo"
Colums to the right:
Sachiko Kanmura (in bold/Kanji name)
People who come to AX are people who love Japanese Animation.  Could it be
that they've grown up with Disney, so the Japanese Animation seems new?  Of
course they're a minority in the U.S. culture.  From U.S. animators who know
the wonders of Disney, these people are very interesting.  What I personally
thought was the most fun was the cosplay.  I think Americans are suited for
cosplay, because they've been trained in the mascarade (Halloween
reference?) since they were kids.  They try to get people's attention, and
although they don't look like the characters as the Japanese cosplayers, if
you're going for a laugh, the Americans may be better.
Kawamoto (bold/kanji name)
They're diverse people, I thought I saw something that isn't a view of
Japan.  They try to speak elementry Japanese, and the questions were
manic/crazy like "how can I become an animator".  It seems like they're
collecting information on the web, and although it's before the release in
the U.S., they know a lot about (Cowboy) BePop.  By the way, Kanno
Yoko-san's concert was a success because of the popularity of (Vision of)
Escaflowne in the U.S.  It was also a new experience since there aren't any
chances to hold discussions with the fans in Japan.  Japan (Japanese fans)
should have these chances/opportunities too.
(The above is probably in reference to the panels?)
