I don't suppose so.  From the flow of the storyline in the novel, Tanaka is
describing Yang's thought about historic events for advanced weapons leading
to victory in battles.  Yang gives several examples of victorious battles
without overwhelming weapons, but great strategic plans instead.  The
examples include Sun Tzu, Napoleon, Khan, and also Lau Pong (with errata)
and that mysterious Mr. Minolta.
