Yep, I agree. Pearl Harbor messed up the history, and portrayed Japanese
Americans as spies for the Japanese government, which is an foul act to
justify what U.S. did during WWII - sending thousands of innocent Japanese
Americans to desert concerntraition camps. Plus, the movie made it seem
like U.S. fend off the assualt. In reality, the Japanese carrier air group
cleaned the island before the Americans had a chance to defend themselves.
Summing up: some hardheads want to believe that U.S. didn't lose so badly in
that attack, and military brass want to save face and regain some pride from
it... end result? Hollywood made Pearl Harbor to satisfy their need.

Hello.
My intention was to gather a group of friends when it comes here, make some
japanese banners (or some other suitable items) and go to a premiere and
scream things like Tora! Tora! Tora! as a protest for hollywood filmmakers
(for raping history), but since I will leave to japan for three weeks next
saturday I won't be able to do it.
Granted, I should not rate a movie until I have seen one, but since
Bruckenhaimer/Bay combination has not produced anything even barely
watchable, I believe their capabilities are not up to task of this story*
By the way, I could dig up a novel (I think it was called 'Vietnam', but I
don't remember it author right now) about a hollywood screenwriter who
writes a succesful Vietnam trilogy which shows that USA kicked butt,
producer of course demanded it. (Who would like to see a movie where we
lose! I want a victory parade and a marching band!).
This starts a boom where all history is rewritten by hollywood (americans
win Battle of Britain, etc) and in the end, even the veterans of the war
believe that americans did it all.
I think I will stick to other, better movies like Tora! Tora! Tora!, Cross
of Iron, Thin Red Line (Terrence Malick), Stalingrad or Tuntematon Sotilas.
btw, I believe Saving Private Ryan is one of worst movies ever made.
