There are two way of thinking about this, I think. One is to consider from
the novel itself, and the other is to consider what Yoshiki Tanaka was
thinking. Forget Yoshiki now...

I do agree with you. Kircheis is strange. As Reinhard is far too weird,
people usually forget Kircheis was also starange.
I think it's possible to fall in love at ten year-old.
But it's a love at his ten year-old level.
And the love grew up with Kircheis.
There seems no problems(5 year of age defference doesn't matter to fall in
love. Perhaps his taste was elder-girls...or he was attracted by her
beautiful face).
The problem is his way of living. He changed school for
Reinhard to be with him.
He called Reinhard with a term of respect.
What for?
Anyway, his whole life was for Reinhard and Annerose.
It looks like his existance was only for these two.
Didn't he have any ambitions? No desire at all?
What do you think?

But,at least, Annerose loved him. When Kircheis died,
Reinhard meets his sister through the screen. He asks her if she
loved Kircheis.
She said nothing, but, showed him sad eyes.(To tell the truth,
I, finally, bought the LoGH novels to make sure what she said
when I watched this scene.)
Then,Reinhard knew she loved Kircheis. At that scene, Reinhard was
not crying, nor weeping. To see him from behind, his shoulders were
shaking a bit. He was, absolutely, frightened like a small child.
Frightened of a big possibility of losing his sister fromh his life
for good. He had known Annerose loved Kircheis. So, he asked her.
Her silence knocked him down. She didn't deny.
