Hello to everyone,

I am a newcomer to this list and I hope I am welcome even though I do not
master English, sorry about it.

Well, I have seen only the movies, the first two seasons with a good if
uncomplete translation. I am currently renting the 3rd season at the video
shop, so, I don't know what happens from episodes 6x.

I would like to say you are lucky in America to have all the first season
translated by fans because the situation is not so nice in France even
though we had the first movie released in cinemas.

I would like to add some comment on the relationships between GED and real
history.
First, don't you think that the situation in the first season looks like
WW2 with the free planets being the US and the reich being nearer from
Japan than from Germany. I mean, battles to control Fortress islands,
Battleships and this kind of things. I wonder if the reference is directly
made to WW2 or if it is inspired from gundam which refers to WW2 (Reinhardt
being a new Char Aznable).

Another point is that I read in the archive a comparison between Reinhardt
and Napoleon (by the way, comparing Yang Wenli to Wellington is not very
nice to Yang). Personally, I think that there are many common points
between Yang Wenli and Napoleon. They where both excellent students at the
military academy. They both fight first for the republic against decadent
empires. They where both feared by politicians because of their growing
popularity. They both won every battle even when greatly outnumbered. What
is most intriguing is that they both surrendered, retired some time and
went back to the command.
They both had the opportunity to become a tyrant, but the difference is
that Napoleon did it while Yang didn't. Of course, they didn't have the
same objectives since I don't think Napoleon cared about human losses (a
big, big mistake).
In the other way, it is true that from the beginning of the 2nd season,
Reinhardt is Napoleon. So, don't you think that Tanaka-san divided Napoleon
in 2 characters?

Of course, I don't think that either Reinhardt or Yang is limited to his
Napoleonic side. Even if some characters are inspired from somewhere else,
Tanaka-san gives them a unique look and that what's fun in GED.
By the way, do you think that Tanaka-san is aware of the inside-joke of
naming the sect leader De Villier while Mr De Villiers is a French far
right politician sounding pretty much like a sect leader?

Thank you for reading all this silly things ;-)
