>>Hey Sydney - I'm in the middle of writing a short article for a self-described >>"feminist" anime fanzine (though I think this is a bit of a misnomer, it's >>actually more of a "femfan" zine) in which I am describing some of the trials > > This wouldn't be Anime Fanatics would it? The reason I ask is because AF > is planning a feature on "epic" animes and I was hoping they'd include > LoGH among them. Nope, it is for a zine a girl at DePauw U. is putting together as a semester project, hopefully with more to follow. I don't even know if it has an official title. She asked for any contributions and I was happy to dash off a short rant. ^_^ Never heard of AF but I also would certainly hope it would have an LoGH feature. If you know how to get in touch with them ask about it, and if they don't I'd be happy to write something. > > and tribulations of being a male fan of shoujo dramas like RoV and LoGH. Do > > Please excuse me while I put on my ignorant anime fan hat. But I've always > considered LoGH a shonen anime. Isn't "shoujo" stuff like Marmalade Boy, > Wedding Peach, Blue-Green Years, etc? Well the excellent summary of manga terminology posted earlier summarizes it nicely (it even explains a few terms I wasn't familiar with!) Technically you're right, LoGH isn't true shoujo, esp. as it started life as a novel and not as a manga. According to those posted definitions it is more of a seinen anime. But I thought it could fit under the shoujo category because of the many pretty males in it and its tremendous popularity among female fans. Shoujo doesn't necessarily imply all cutesy dewey-eyes and stuff. For example, "Please Save My Earth" and "They Were 11" are shoujo stories. ============================================================================== "Zu jeder Zeit, an jeder (sic) Ort, bleibt das Tun | Walter Amos der Menschen das gleiche..." - Galactic Heroes II | amos@sedl.org
