Ah! But it's not the etymology we need to go by; it's the pronunciation. :)
(ASSUMING katakana used are what the author wants...)

The "lion" word in Lowenbrau is NOT pronoiununed "low-en", it's either
"lay-ven" or "lir-ven."  However, the "Lohen" part of "Lohengrin" IS
pronounced "low-en", and if that's what the author's katakana says,
by gum, it's good enough for me.

Not that I've ever been known to change my mind.  ;)
