The special one-hour pilot screening consisting of two episodes will be screened during a panel for fans by a producer from Tokuma Shouten who will gauge fan reaction. Legend of the Galactic Heroes - Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu - was produced for Japanese television between 1989 and 1997 by Tokuma Communications Inc. The 110 half-hour episodes are based on the science fiction novels of the same name first printed in 1982 - bestsellers in Japan and China written by Yoshiki Tanaka.
