Hi, Well, before I get to the main subject, let me introduce myself. I am David Crowley, an anime fan residing in Los Angeles. I have been involved with anime in one form or another for many years, having watched both Astro Boy and Kimba during their original runs here. I then got hooked again during both Star Blazers and Robotech. Robotech is what made me decide to find out more about the original series behind each. This has inevitably brought me to the point where I am now starting to fansub. My current priority project is Giant Gorg. IF they were to do a proper job of it, they would have to do two movies and the 110 episodes of just the "main" series. I don't really see this happening, even given that Armored Trooper Votoms was begun AND finished. My hat's off to CPM for that! I could, possibly, see a company doing 1 - 26 and the first movie. Even for fansubbing, this series has been an exceptionally enormous job. How much moreso for a commercial company? The problem is that it would need to be an immediate hit for any company to even think of pursuing to the final episode. Then there's the second movie, the OAV side story, the "Golden Wings" OAV, but I think everyone here gets my drift. Yet, with all that said, I know that Tokuma Shoten IS looking for the series to be done in English. Otherwise, I doubt they would have gone to the expense of having 2 episodes from Season 2 dubbed into English. If they can get it done for an English speaking audience, I will support it to the hilt. Until then, I will support the fansubs--I'm even doing it myself, using the Sue Shambaugh scripts until I can get my own scripts. I already have the second movie, "Golden Wings" OAV and a less than pristine copy of the first movie. Speaking of the first movie, can anyone point me to an LD or original VHS copy of it? I know it's an old release, but I've gone into a store in the Los Angeles Little Tokyo area and found copies of Red Photon Zillion and that is certainly older on LD than LOGH.
