Hello, I am not going to start another round in the "Debate on Ranks" in this list. It proved to be inconclusive last time. It will be inconclusive again in another debate. At least no one succeeds in convincing me that I should replace terms like "General Field-Marshal", "Colonel General" by "???-Admiral", "***-Admiral". I still prefer following the "convention" in the books. Of course, I read the Chinese translation of the books only, which are poorly translated in general. But I think the Chinese version should be closest to the original Japanese version when it is compared with translations to other language in any form. At the same time, the terms I find in my books can only refer to what I pointed out in that debate several months ago. (Ranks in the LoGH corresponding to ranks of land forces in recent times; "Admiral" reserved as an honorary title for someone who commands fleet(s) (no matter how small or how big)) (Sorry to those who don't read Chinese!) Perhaps we should leave it an open question. Or perhaps someone should write a letter to the author (Mr. Tanaka) asking him what he refered to when he wrote all these things. Reinhard-Siegfried
