What is the Dune movie?

Hi Everyone,

        The only thing about Dune I know is that I have played a computer
game called Dune 2. All I know is that the game is based on a novel, there
is a planet called Dune which is made up of sand. There are natives on the
planet called Fremen and there are huge worms living there. There are three
houses trying to control Dune because of the valuable spices that only grow
there. Am I right?

        Now, I am quite interested in the topic but I know nothing about the
movie. Can someone give me some info on the movie? Like when was it made,
what language is it in, and where can I rent/buy a copy of it etc. Thanks.
